It took a while, stopping in Japan for a week, flying 16 hours to houston and then getting a layover that was delayed for nearly 2 hours and then a 4 hour flight home. However, I made it back. Ironically, my first meal back was Chinese food.
As of now, I’ve made myself a firm promise to not eat with chopsticks for at least a month, my hands are sore, and my chopstick skills professional.
On an absolutely serious note, this trip was super memorable, something I will never forget. Hanging with my student’s and making cross cultural friends was amazing. I just finished reading the postcards my student’s sent with me, and I admittedly let a single tear roll down my face. I miss them all. It feels like I taught them forever, and I hope that my impact on them lasts forever.
I look forward to returning to Beijing.
